Life has it’s ups & downs…

Yesterday I was invited for dinner with the Club Stiletto crew. These people are like family. Burning Man Road Trip 2013

A road trip with my best friend is probably my favorite thing in the whole world. We listen to music & informative pod casts while blasting down the highway in his convertible. We stay in cheap motels, explore little towns, eat at roadside diners and talk. The kind of talking you do when you have endless hours to do it. It’s not a quick recap of your day, it’s the digging deep conversations, the meat of life.

My best friend & I set out for Burning Man with a sense of adventure. The road trip there & back, done many times now, is often even more special to me than the actual Burning Man event. We drove for a couple days in his convertible & rented an RV closer to Nevada where we continued in to meet our camp which included cherished friends we’ve been camping with for years & a few new additions this year: Ceara Lynch, her boyfriend & ‘Nate Bitch’ (sub boy that stayed with Ceara & I in Tampa & Vegas.)

See previous blog post). With limited internet access I got the address for a hot springs resort a couple hours away. FetishCon in Tampa 2013 – The Recap!

I just returned to Vancouver from five exciting days at FetishCon in Tampa. I’m repacking my bags to go to Burning Man but I have a few minutes to fill you in on the trip & share loads of great pics.

If you’ve ever been to any kind of conference for any industry you know the drill. There’s a big conference room in a hotel with a bunch of ‘booths’ with exhibitors selling their stuff or promoting their business in some way. There are business mixers giving attendees a chance to network. FetCon is the same except the exhibitors are selling fetish clothing, sex toys, bondage toys, etc. & the business’s promoting themselves are adult businesses, Dominatrix’s & fetish porn stars. Method To My Madness

I could also say the madness in my method. I’m talking about how I create my vids. I’ve often been asked what my process is, if I follow a script, where I come up with my ideas, how I choose the film slaves or other performers, etc.

Very challenging!

After all I’ve seen & learned I still do things the way I have from the start. Loose & casual. If I’m making a custom vid I accept brief outlines but refuse to follow scripts or memorize lines. I do things in my own style. I get a lot of repeat custom vid buyers so that seems to be working.

When I film with a film slave things get a little more complicated.

I’m a lot more careful about who I film with these days. My preference is usually fit men with above-average cocks. The first time I film with a new guy I ask them what they’re into. It can be nerve-wracking for a 1st time film slave & I do my best to ensure they are comfortable. As long as what they’re into is something I think will sell for me we’ll do that. Usually a hand job. That’s an easy one for most guys. Sometimes a ruined orgasm or humiliation or ball busting, etc. Once we get more comfortable with each other we can do different or more complicated scenes.

I do all my own filming. That means that I coordinate the shoot, set up the lighting, put the camera on the tripod, if there’s a film slave I give him basic instructions, hit the start button & away I go. I usually only have the most basic idea of what the scene will be at the start. Sometimes I have a moment of concern that maybe this will be the time I just don’t know what to say…but I always seem to figure it out. I think it gives my scenes a more realistic feel, since I’m making it up as I go along, just as most people do in real life.

I do my own editing as well & occasionally I’ll use a little editing magic to spruce up a vid. Recently I did a scene where I basically just gave a blow job for 8 minutes. But either way, I can’t see you being anything other than extremely successful. I’d pay you for marketing & business advice any day. You have so much to offer aside from what you do on camera.

Vegas baby!

A few of us gals in the industry decided to get together in Vegas for a few days of non-work fun. For many like myself, this business can feel very insulated. Sure, we banter on twitter & can email each other any time…sure we have friends who work in other industries…but many of us don’t have people around us who understand the day-to-day realities of our business.

Going to conventions/traveling to meet & make friends with others in this biz has been very fulfilling for me.

Judgement

Judgement has been the topic of several of my blog posts & as much as I wish it would go away so I wouldn’t need to talk about it anymore, alas, that’s not reality.

I also like to talk about it because I know so many of my readers struggle with this too. Many have never told anyone about their fetishes or have had negative reactions after someone has found out.

Imagine making your fetishes your job & having your face all over the internet broadcasting how kinky you are. That’s the difficult path I’ve chosen. I love my work but there are trade-offs for living my life so out in the open.

The last few months I’ve been dabbling in online dating. I would love to have a significant other in my life. Lovers come & go. Some turn into wonderful friends. I’ve been blessed. Yet I still feel like my life would be enhanced by a very significant other. Of course my job & lifestyle are an obstacle but I know a lot of women in my industry who have found wonderful partners.

Most of my 1st dates have been fine. There just hasn’t been chemistry. 1. If he had just not been into it I could have let it go, but it was the judgement, the disgust of it that got me. As I tried to make my exit he back-peddled trying to say that maybe he could try it but the damage was done. Most of us fetishists would rather indulge our fetishes with someone who is also into it, not doing it ‘just’ for us.

2. Contestant #2 feared his teen daughter would get teased at school if her class mates found out her dad was dating a porn star. As I made my exit he seemed concerned that he had hurt my feelings. I laughed at that. My answer would have been too complex. I thought of his daughter finding out years later that her dad passed up a potentially wonderful relationship with a women for such a silly reason. She probably worries about how lonely her dad is & would be happy just to see him happy. I have some personal experience as the teen in this case but that’s a longer story. I didn’t bother saying any of that because the damage was already done. Deep down I felt there was judgement & narrow-mindedness on his part that he wasn’t being honest with himself about.

These were just two guys that I went on a couple of dates with. There was no emotional attachment, only the potential for one. In the long run I probably won’t even remember them. It’s the judgment that leaves a mark.

So if you’re reading this & thinking about your own personal experience being judged for being different, for having a fetish or kink, for wanting something out of the norm, know that you’re not alone. The world is FULL of deviants, perverts, fetishists, sinners, lovers of the alternative. I have many wonderful friends who don’t just accept me but celebrate all that I am.

If you’re reading this & you’re guilty of having judged someone, for shaming someone, for making someone feel broken for being aroused by something other than what arouses you: Do not judge others for sinning differently than you. Or: Judge not lest ye be judged. All of us ‘could’ easily be judged by someone for something. Sexual diversity should be celebrated.
